Bui Quang Minh, Manager of Bkav's vulnerability research team, has been given a 1,000 USD award by Google for discovering a critical vulnerability in Google Chrome.

The vulnerability was found in XML-file-handling process of Google Chrome. When processing malformed XML files, Chrome will be crashed and can be exploited to execute malicious code. Computers infected with malware upon access to malicious websites will be easily taken control over by hacker. This vulnerability not only affects Chrome but also has similar impact on Apple's Safari. Therefore, Mac and such devices like iPhone, iPad, etc. with Safari browser installed by default would be also at risk.

Bui Quang Minh is one of the six security researchers in the world to receive the highest award from Google for vulnerability discovery in November.

This is not the first time Bui Quang Minh has discovered vulnerability in world popular software. In December 2008, Bui Quang Minh and his vulnerability research team discovered a critical vulnerability in the face recognition based authentication mechanism in Asus, Lenovo and Toshiba laptops.
