Mountain View, Calif., March 22, 2013 - After more than 1 day, Bkav has successfully developed the patch for the new Samsung lock screen flaw disclosed by Terence Eden on March 20. The patch has been integrated into the free version of Bkav Mobile Security.
This has been the second flaw concerning Samsung lock screen discovered recently. Taking steps that Terence Eden outlined, unauthorized users can not only see home screen for a while, but also have complete access to the device.
"This new flaw essentially is the same with our previous analysis, Samsung allows Emergency Call to run like a normal application even when the phone has been locked. With a normal app, not only home button but also back button may affect it. That is why back button used in the new flaw", said Mr. Nguyen Minh Duc, Director of Bkav Security.

Bkav's approach is to block the appearance of lock screen's follower upon detecting signs of intrusion attempts. This means the unauthorized user cannot interact with any apps on home screen (including Google Play, etc.); in other words the intrusion attempt fails. Besides, Bkav Mobile Security will capture the unauthorized user's image with the phone's front camera, then email the photo to the phone's owner.
