According to information from Major General Nguyen Ngoc Lam - Deputy Minister of Public Security at the meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on August 19, the trick of creating fake websites impersonating agencies, organizations, businesses, and individuals to commit fraud accounts for about 15% of fraud cases in cyberspace.

In the first 6 months of 2024, the police investigated and discovered 286 cases of online fraud, prosecuting 452 subjects. Notable among these were cases of creating fake websites of the National Public Service Portal, banks, etc. to collect personal data and bank card information of users.

Bad guys use the collected information to text or call victims, fraudulently call for investment, mobilize capital with high interest rates, invite to buy and sell goods with high discounts, or recruit people to close deals to earn money, but in fact, they are defrauding money and appropriating property.

Bkav experts recommend that, in order to avoid becoming a victim of online fraud, users should:

- Before clicking on a link to any website, carefully check the link to make sure it does not contain strange characters. Malicious links often have domain names similar to famous brands. For example, G00gle.com instead of google.com.

- Do not provide personal information such as citizen identification, bank account, OTP code... via online or offline channels without properly verifying the identity of the transaction subject.

- Install professional anti-virus software for constant protection
